This qualification reflects the role of retail sales personnel involved in a defined range of tasks to sell and demonstrate beauty or cosmetic products. They follow known routines and procedures and work under direct supervision.
This qualification provides a pathway to work as a retail sales consultant in any business that sells beauty or cosmetic products and services. This can include beauty and hairdressing salons, retail outlets and department stores.
The Beauty Therapy College of Australia SHB20116 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics consists of the following units from the SHB Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package:

Pre Requisites: No prior study or experience is required to complete this course.
Entry Requirements: An English language proficiency of Level 2 and
Numeracy Level 1 is required to enrol in this course.
Course Duration: 5 months to 1 year.
College Attendance: 1-2 days or evenings per week at the College premises 314 High Street Maitland NSW 2320.

Attendance is also required for a Friday class from 9am -5pm. Please phone the College on (02) 4934 8111 for current course dates and times.
Additional Requirements: In addition to college attendance, students are required to undertake 10 hours per week of study which includes practicing the skills learned in the classroom, homework activities, research and study.
Dress Code: Black Shirt and full-length black pants (No jeans or leggings). Closed in shoes are mandatory. Hair is to be pulled back neatly every class. The college requests limited jewellery and no inappropriate skin exposure.

Non Inclusions: Foundation Kits are not included in the cost of the course, however they will be available for use in class and to purchase if desired.
Additional Charges: Re-Assessment Fees may be applied where students fail to submit or attend class for an assessment and have not been granted an extension, or are unable to provide a medical certificate.
Acceptance of Enrolment: There are two (2) methods of being accepted into the SHB250116 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics:

1. Full fee paying student
2. Smart and Skilled funded student: See page 12 for further information. Enrolments are limited in accordance with the amount of funding offered to BTCA under contract with the NSW Government.
1. Full fee paying students:
Full fee paying student’s course fee: $5,150 (Price subject to change)

The above course fee consists of the following instalments:

1. An initial non- refundable enrolment fee of $200.00 will apply to this course. This fee is payable with your Application for Enrolment and will hold you a position in the course. For more information on the enrolment process, please refer to page 2 of this Course Information Guide.

2. A Deposit of $1,300.00 is required at least 4 weeks prior to course commencement.

3. The remainder of course fees may be paid in accordance with an individualised Flexible Payment Plan issued by the College with payments required on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
NB: BTCA does not accept course fees paid in advance in excess of $1,500.00. The Enrolment fee and Deposit are included in the cost of the course and are not additional fees.
Materials: The Student kit above is included in the course costs for full fee paying students.
2. Smart and Skilled Funded students:
Smart and Skilled Funding is a NSW Government initiative which assists eligible students to gain a Qualification by heavily subsidising training fees.

BTCA have a contract for Smart and Skilled Funding with this course for the 2018-2019 financial year. Contracts for the 2019-2020 financial year have not yet been offered. BTCA are unable to guarantee a Smart and Skilled funded position to any student until a contract from the NSW Government has been offered and accepted by BTCA.

Limited funding is available. Smart and Skilled subsidised positions are allocated to students in the order that Application for enrolment are accepted.

Smart and Skilled funding includes the cost of training only. It does not include kit costs. A kit fee of $500.00 is payable prior to course commencement for Smart and Skilled funded students and includes the kits listed under Student Kit on page 11. If this causes financial hardship please discuss this with the Payment plan administration officer.
