This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work as beauty therapists to provide a range of beauty therapy treatments and services, including lash and brow treatments, manicure and pedicare services, make-up, massage and waxing. They communicate with clients to recommend treatments and services and sell retail skin care and cosmetic products.

These individuals undertake work independently, with limited guidance from others, to perform routine and non-routine activities and solve non-routine problems. They apply and adapt technical skills and knowledge, and use judgment in the provision of beauty treatments and services. These individuals are responsible for their own outputs and provide limited guidance to others.

Work is typically conducted in beauty salons and spas. The Beauty Therapy College of Australia SHB40115 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy consists of the following units from the SHB Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package:

Pre Requisites: No prior study or experience is required to complete this course.
Entry Requirements: An English language proficiency of Level 4 and Numeracy Level 3 is required to enrol in this course.
Course Duration: February – September or July - June
College Attendance: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – 9.00am to 5.00pm at College premises 314 High Street Maitland NSW 2320.

No classes for this course are held during school holidays or on public holidays. The exception is, that students may be required to attend in school holidays if they have outstanding assessable tasks or practical assessments to complete.
Field Placement: In addition to college attendance, students are to attend 120 hours of field placement.
Additional Requirements: In addition to college attendance, students are required to undertake 14-15 hours per week of external study which includes practicing the skills learned in the classroom, homework activities, research, student Field placement and studying.
Dress Code: College uniform consists of the college uniform top (1 x supplied in your kit), black full-length pants (no jeans or leggings), black, closed in shoes (no ballet flats) and college badge (supplied). Light make-up is to be worn and hair is to be pulled back neatly every day. Minimal jewellery only. Finger nails are required to be at an acceptable level to perform all services, clean, neat and if polish is worn it must be intact and not chipped.
Extras: Industry experts from major skin and body care companies present training to expand your product knowledge. These sessions are attended at the College. These Product Knowledge days incorporate both face and body training and practical activities. They are included at no additional cost to the student.

All products supplied for use in the classroom are included in the cost of the course.

BTCA value the benefits of students working on clients during their training. Client days are held throughout the year of your training. BTCA provides all products and linen during Client Service Days.

Acceptance of Enrolment: There is one (1) method of being accepted into the SHB40115 Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy.

1. Full fee Paying Students
Full fee paying student’s course fee: $13,700 (Price subject to change)

The above course fee consists of the following instalments:

1. An initial non- refundable enrolment fee of $200.00 will apply to this course. This fee is payable with your Application for enrolment and will hold you a position in the course. For more information on the enrolment process, please refer to page 2 of the Course Information Guide.

2. A Deposit of $1,300.00 is required at least 4 weeks prior to course commencement.

3. The remainder of course fees may be paid in accordance with an individualised Flexible Payment Plan issued by the College with payments required on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
NB: BTCA does not accept course fees paid in advance in excess of $1500. The Enrolment fee and Deposit are included in the cost of the course and are not additional fees.
Materials: The Student kit (on page 8 of the Course Information Guide) is included in the course costs for full fee paying students.
Additional charges: Additional uniform tops are available upon request. The cost for each additional top is $85.00. This price is subject to change. Postage charges may apply for orders placed after the commencement of course.

Additional kits may be made available for purchase. Students are not required to purchase these additional kits. Examples of these are a Facial Product Kit or Manicure/Pedicare Product Kit. It is the student’s decision if they wish to purchase any additional products or kits.

Re-Assessment Fees may be applied where students fail to submit or attend class for an assessment and have not been granted an extension, or are unable to provide a medical certificate.
