Short Course

This course provides the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide services and advice to clients requiring hand, foot and nail care.

It includes the ability to recognise relevant contraindications and conditions, to understand the structure and function of hands, feet and nails and the effects of treatments and products, and to select and provide services and advice to meet the objectives of the client.

This course applies to workers in beauty and nail salons, and spas.
Pre Requisites: No prior study or experience is required to complete this course.
Entry Requirements: A minimum English language proficiency of Level 2 and Numeracy Level 1 is required to enrol in this course.
Proposed Intakes: February and July

(Additional courses may be run according to demand. Availability of courses are subject to minimum numbers.)
Duration: 10 weeks
College Attendance: One Week Night – 6.00pm to 10.00pm at College premises 314 High Street Maitland NSW 2320. No classes are held during school holidays.
Additional requirements: In addition to college attendance, students are required to undertake 1 hour per week of study which includes practicing the skills learnt in the classroom, research and study. Models may be required. BTCA can provide advice to assist with models.
Dress Code: Black shirt and black full length pants. Closed in shoes are mandatory. Hair is to be pulled back neatly every class. The college requests limited jewellery and no inappropriate skin exposure.

  • Prepare self and clients for treatments
  • Complete client consultations
  • Complete treatment plans
  • Basic anatomy and physiology of the arms, legs, hands, feet and nails
  • Identify diseases and disorders of the skin and nails
  • Perform basic manicure and pedicare services
  • Perform paraffin manicure and pedicare services
  • Perform AHA manicure and pedicare services
  • Workplace health, safety and hygiene
  • Provide post-treatment advice

  • Manicure and Pedicare Product Kit
Extras: Products, additional equipment and linen will be supplied for use in class.
Course Fee: $1,300 (Price subject to change) The above course fee is the total cost of your training and consists of the following instalments.

1. An initial non- refundable enrolment fee of $200.00 will apply to this course. This fee is payable upon enrolment and with your Enrolment form, will allocate you a position in the course. For more information on the enrolment process, please refer to the Course Information Guide.

2. A deposit of $300.00 is required 1 week prior to course commencement.
